This morning, during periods 1 & 2, classes will be called to the Cafe to hear election speeches from all the 2024/25 Students' Council candidates. Please wait for the call down. 

Attention all Hawks! Are you planning to take an online course as part of your timetable next year? Registration for online courses is available now. Please book an "Online Course Registration" appointment with a guidance counsellor to get your name on the waitlist for the courses you hope to take next year. Registration deadline is Friday, May 10th.


Are you a student Indigenous or African ancestry who will be 16 by the end of June and are interested in studying in the Health Sciences at university? University of Toronto is running an almost all expenses paid 4 week summer mentorship program that may be of interest to you! You will gain hugely valuable experiences, get a taste of university life, earn a grade 12 Science credit that can be used in your university average AND even receive a small monetary stipend of participating! See Mrs. Kelsey in PP for application info.

Do you have a passion for environmental stewardship? Do you love being in and learning about nature? Would you like an opportunity for environmental learning, outdoor fun and leadership training? The L&A Stewardship Council is providing a grant for one student from our county to attend the Ontario Nature Youth Summit being held in Huntsville next September. Applications are now open and the deadline is May 15th. Stop by PP for more info.

-Charlotte Uens Scholarship has officially opened, but not for long! This VERY GENEROUS scholarship is managed by the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington and is JUST for students of NDSS. Students must be attending post-secondary in the fall, should exhibit financial need, and have demonstrated school or community involvement and leadership. More details can be found in People Place. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 26th at 4:30pm sharp.

-Frontenac and Addington Trapper Council community group is committed to encouraging the wise use and conservation of our Natural Resources. They have provided a scholarship to graduates who have shown a concern to be involved with the well-being of our school, community and the local environment. Applications are available in PP and are due by June 1st.
-Terry Fox Humanitarian Award is a highly competitive national award, valued at $28000. It recognizes a student who demonstrates compassion and a keen commitment to easing the suffering of others.

-French Immersion Grads - The House of Commons hires first year bilingual university students to work as Pages for Members of Parliament - it is an incredible experience and a well-compensated position. If you are interested and plan to attend an Ottawa post-secondary school, stop by PP.

Gold Band - tomorrow is BandFest! Please be in C14 by 7:15 am, wear your band shirt and bring a lunch and water bottle. You will also need money for dinner. 
Multicultural Community - today we meet at lunch in A17 briefly.

Track & Field -attention all relay runners. MANDATORY meeting at the start of lunch in D16 today for all relay runners. Arrive quickly!

Baseball: practice today after school outside.

Jr Boys Soccer: are dismissed at 12:30 today for the game in Kingston. 
Sr Boys Soccer: are dismissed at 2:00 today.
ALL BOYS SOCCER are to attend a presentation today in the Collaboration Room at the start of period 2.

Sr Girls Soccer: on Friday's kick off game we showed resiliency in the challenging weather and displayed an impressive level of positivity and teamwork. Practice after school!

Anti-Bullying Group - please meet today at lunch in A1 for a brief meeting.

In partnership with the L&A OPP, we are hosting a 24 hour charity run on April 11-12 at the NDSS track! Participants will challenge themselves to complete 17 laps every hour, equating to 6.8 km per hour. This event supports the NDSS Food Sharing Project and Badge of Life Canada, focusing on student nutrition and mental health support for first responders. All proceeds will be evenly divided between these causes. The event will feature a BBQ on April 12. Join us by running, walking, or cheering to make a lasting impact in our community. Every stride counts!

Boys Rugby - what a successful night! Seniors started us off with the first try from Tyler N. We scored 4 more trys by Nate G., Josh M., Phoenix K. and Ethan B. 27-5 win!
Even though the outcome was not in the Juniors' favour, that did not take away from all the positives that were displayed on the field.

Jr Boys Soccer - reminder that the tournament is tomorrow at Tindall Field in Kingston. Check with Mr. Heaton if you need a ride.

Congratulations to the NDSS Stage Band! They played really well yesterday at the Kiwanis Music Festival. All students represented NDSS with skill, class and positivity. We were awarded Silver standing which is much to be proud of! Extra shout out to soloists Adam C. on bari sax and Julia C. on trumpet. Congrats to all!
